
Proton Ventures BV developed the NFuel concept, based on decentralized production of Ammonia (Tradename: ©NFuel) from surplus electricity, potentially to be used as a carbon free fuel or to use as ammonia for other purposes without transportation issues, production permit issues. Currently we have designed NFuel units for 3 production rates: Small - 3 Kg/hour, Medium - 125 Kg/hour, and Large - 1000 Kg/hour.
Above is the 3D representation of our medium sized unit. As can be seen the unit is made in skids, each fitting 40ft standardized containers, which makes it easier for transport and logistics. These skids are fully automated, remotely operated unit and fully guaranteed for technical integrity since this is a proven technology. Our skid based concept is potrayed below: the photos outline our demi-water skid for the NFuel unit.
Furthermore, the NFuel units are powered by electricity derived from renewable energy sources, and are designed to withstand rapid power fluctuations. The control philosophy is based on rapid on-standby circles, with negligible power consumption during stand-by mode. Labor costs are minimal as the monitoring & control of the unit will be done remotely through a wireless secure internet connection, and minimal operational presence will be required for the unit's control. The NH3 production unit including the compressors and the reactors can operate efficiently for more than 30 years. The Electrolyzers & the Nitrogen production units have around 20 years life expectancy, but this can be expanded by proper operation and maintenance of the unit.
